Guidebook keeps your guides on your own computer. It doesn't track you, show ads, or sell anything about you.

The browser extension

Your guides stay on your computer. Guides you make, record, import or add are saved in your browser's storage for the extension. They're never sent anywhere unless you share one.
Recording stays on your computer. When you record a guide, Guidebook notes which buttons and links you click, and which boxes you type in, so it can turn them into steps. It never keeps what you type, and the recording is only saved in your browser.
It reads pages only to point at things. To show you where to click, Guidebook looks at the page you're on while a guide is running or you're recording. Nothing it sees on the page is sent anywhere.
No tracking. The extension has no analytics, no ads and no third-party code.

When you share a guide, the guide's text is sent to this site so it can have a link. Anyone with the link can read it. You can stop sharing at any time, which deletes it here.
When you suggest a guide for the library, it waits for a person to review it before anyone else can find it there.
When you add a collection, the extension downloads that collection from the address you gave it, and checks it again every few hours for updates. Guidebook's own starter collection is downloaded from this site the same way. Those downloads carry no information about you beyond what any web request does.

For each shared guide, this site keeps the guide's text, when it was shared and changed, and a scrambled copy of its secret edit key. There are no accounts, names or email addresses.
The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard request logs (like IP addresses) for a short time to run and protect the service.
If you ask for early access, the site keeps the email address, company name and note you gave, only to tell you about Guidebook. Write to us and we'll delete them.
The site sets no cookies and has no analytics.
